Anonymous asked: how do you feel about why?

WHY? are one of my favorite current bands/projects/musical endeavors, in part because they’re so difficult to pin down. Throughout their history, they have blurred stylistic lines and even skirted them entirely, exploring hip-hop, folk, psychedelic pop, and even traditional indie rock seemingly without effort. It’s also been fascinating to track WHY?’s trajectory, from the lo-fi solo side project of frontman Yoni Wolf to the full-band bombast of records like their 2008 masterpiece Alopecia. They’re nothing if not unpredictable, and that’s what keeps me constantly interested in them. I also think that Yoni Wolf is one of the most brilliant and unique songwriters of this era.
