"Ocean Floor For Everything" by How To Dress Well.

How To Dress Well - “Ocean Floor For Everything”

Experimental R&B/pop producer Tom Krell (aka How To Dress Well) debuted a new track recently on his soundcloud page that will appear on his new record Total Loss this fall. I haven’t had much experience with How To Dress Well’s music in the past, but this track instantly grabbed me after I downloaded it on a whim.

“Ocean Floor For Everything” blends minimalist tones with maximalist atmospheres throughout its 3 minute run time. Krell’s crystalline, auto-tuned vocals waft over hollow, spacious piano keys at the beginning and gentle beats keep the piece moving at a clip. By the halfway mark, “Ocean Floor” explodes into a lush burst of synth strings, snare claps, and more of Krell’s beautiful overlapping vocals. It’s like watching a star go supernova in slow motion. Heartbreaking stuff.
