A music blog, established 2010. My name is Chris Cappello and I live in New Haven. I write reviews, broadcast on the radio, collect vinyl, and generally listen to entirely too much new music. Following this blog for all of that and more.

Left of the Dial Radio Playlist - 8/3/12

Last night, Robert Mathis guested on my radio show Left of the Dial, performing an acoustic set as The Human Fly and engaging in a dialogue with me that really illuminated his creative process and made me appreciate his music even more. After the performance, Robert and I talked about the music that influenced his work as The Human Fly, and he shared a playlist of hand-selected tracks that represented what he was listening to around that time. Though brief, the 6-song playlist was great, and Robert was a total pro behind the radio console. Because we had extra time, we tacked on a track by Giles Corey as well.

Check out his full playlist below, and stream it via spotify at the embedded link below that.

  • 1. The Walker Brothers - “The Electrician”
  • 2. Screaming Females - “A New Kid”
  • 3. Flipper - “Ever”
  • 4. Bruce Springsteen - “Highway Patrolman”
  • 5. Samuel Barber - “Adagio For Strings”
  • 6. The Gunshy - “I Will Die Alone”
  • 7. Giles Corey - “A Sleeping Heart”
