Hostage Calm - “Brokenheartland”

Connecticut’s greatest anthem writers Hostage Calm recently dropped the first single from their highly anticipated new full length album Please Remain Calm via Filter Magazine. The track is called “Brokenheartland,” and it’s exactly the kind of barnstorming punk rock banger that the first single of a Hostage Calm album should be. It’s got chugging pop-punk guitars, harmonizing vocals, and a “Tonight, they won’t take me alive!” chorus that just begs to be shouted along with.
After “The “M” Word,” this is the second song we’ve heard from Please Remain Calm so far, and although there are some similarities between the two (the harmonies, the catchy melodies, the politically-charged lyrics), they differ stylistically in a pretty stark way. It will be interesting to see which direction Hostage Calm takes overall on the new album.
